We operate and maintain rail infrastructure and rolling stock for both passenger and freight transport, ensuring sustainability, high reliability, and cost-efficiency throughout.
Our history
Founded in 2017 as a dynamic organisation within Deutsche Bahn, DB International Operations builds on Deutsche Bahn’s globally recognized operational experience and expertise, which have been developed amid strong competition over the decades. Our engagement outside of Europe enables us to apply our experience and know-how in the operation and maintenance of complex railway systems around the world. With our passion for rail solutions, we strongly support the drive for sustainable mobility and to bring goods to their destination in the best way.
1835
The beginning: first railway in mainland Europe connecting Nuremberg and Fürth, starting the golden era of railway in Germany
1965
Introduction of InterCity services – marking a strategic move to provide faster and more frequent connections between major cities in Germany, improving national and regional transport connectivity
1991
The ICE1 train enters operation, marking the start of the era of high-speed rail. Since then, we’ve put four more generations of high-speed trains into operation
2008
Asia and Europe connected by world’s longest freight train
